Why Da’ehu?

 The verse says (Mishlei 3:6) בכל דרכיך דעהו והוא יישר אורחותיך.  In all of your ways know Him and He will make your paths straight.  The purpose of Creation, says the רמח”ל, is to have a relationship with Hashem.  That is our job in this world.

The purpose of חינוך, says רש”י, is to train our children for the role they will have as adults.  Of course that includes Torah learning and professional skills but first and foremost that should also include learning to have a relationship with Hashem!
